Formed in 1993, CFAN is a 50/50 Joint Venture between GE Aviation & Safran Aircraft Engines of France. The partnership was created to introduce composite fan blades in a GE90 Engine that powers the Boeing 777. It has leveraged the success of this product to introduce additional fan blades on the GEnx Engines that power the Boeing 787 and Boeing 747-8.
CFAN has become a leader in advanced composite technology through the use of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies as well as the implementation of High-Performance Work Teams (HPWT). With close to half of its engineering personnel graduating from Texas State University, CFAN relies on this relationship to keep bringing technological breakthroughs in the manufacturing of composite fan blades.
Central to CFAN’s culture is our commitment to quality within all functions of the company. Using the widely recognized Six-Sigma methodology, we focus on eliminating defects and reducing variation in shop floor and transactional processes alike.
CFAN operates a modern 270,000 sq ft facility located in San Marcos, Texas between Austin and San Antonio. Built in 1989, our facility offers 250,000 sq ft. of shop floor space, 20,000 sq ft of office space and is completely temperature controlled..

Corporate Challenge is a sports competition hosted by San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department between local companies. CFAN encourages its employees to participate in this fun program to promote team spirit, team work, team unity and sportsmanship which include Bowling, Volleyball, Softball, Kickball, Horseshoes, Billiards, Darts, Golf, Canoe Race and Washers.
The purpose of the CFAN Community Engagement Program (CCEP) team is to support charitable activities which reinforce a positive relationship between CFAN, its employees and the surrounding communities. The team allocates funds and coordinates activities to enhance the quality of life for those in need. The team promotes educational material to make a positive impact in the community and environment.
